Sebastiaan Sebastiaan played the organ and piano from an early age. At the age of twelve he won the improvisation and interpretation prize at the Competition for Youth Organists in Amsterdam. He then studied classical church organ at the Hilversum Conservatory. In addition, as a pianist he also took lessons from various jazz musicians, including Nedly Elstak. Sebastiaan plays a variety of music styles and in different line-ups, has his own electro-acoustic funk band Downbeat Syndrome and has been a pianist in Carel Kraayenhof's 'Sexteto Canyengue' for many years.

Carla felt attracted to jazz at a young age. She studied jazz/double bass at the Amsterdam Sweelinck Conservatory and also followed masterclasses with famous bassists such as Hein van de Geyn, Red Mitchell, Rufus Reis, Todd Coolman and Ray Brown. With her strong swinging groove and warm sound she supported many jazz combos in Belgium, Germany, France, Switzerland and Austria and produced two CDs.
When she played every night for a week with musicians from Amsterdam in a hotel in Switzerland, her idea for the Amsterdam Jazz Club was born. Since then she has successfully organised these projects at home and abroad.
